Employers & Agencies
If you are an employer, a voluntary organisation or an agency which places staff in client companies, you could benefit by making disclosure a key element of your recruitment process. Disclosure offers you:
- The security of knowing about a new employee's conviction history
- A source of reliable information not available through any other means
- A way to identify individuals who are not suited to your work environment or to represent your organisation
For most other types of regulated work with children or protected adults, the PVG Scheme is now the most appropriate type of check. Regulated work is the term used by the PVG Act to define the types of work which barred individuals must not do, and for which PVG Scheme membership is available. Click here to access more information about the PVG Scheme.
Which type of disclosure do you need?
Do your employees...
- ...work with children?
- ...work with adults at risk?
- ...carry out a role that specifically requires disclosure?
If you answered yes to any question
For Regulated Work with children and/or vulnerable adults you should apply to join the PVG Scheme.
For other posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, you might need to apply for Standard Disclosure, or for posts which are exempt and for a prescribed purpose an Enhanced Disclosure.
If you answered no to all questions
You can apply for basic Disclosure online
Or request an application form
Likely to make a large number of applications?
If your organisation is likely to make a large number of applications every year, or make large batches of applications at various times, you could take advantage of our bulk application facilities.
Overseas Applications and Posting of Certificates
Please be aware that the cost of a Disclosure includes the cost of First Class Postage within the United Kingdom.
The need to supply application forms or indeed Disclosure Certificates outside of the UK was not envisaged, and is not reflected, in the overall cost of a Disclosure. We currently have no agreement to send items outwith the UK.
Therefore any non-UK mail is sent via Surface Mail, not Airmail, and may take time to reach their destination.
As an alternative, customers could nominate an alternative UK postal address which they would like the forms/certificate to be sent to.
Such an arrangement would need to be made with Disclosure Scotland when submitting an application.
