Do I need to submit anything else with my application form?
There may be instances when we require applicants to submit supporting documentary evidence of identity. Applicants need to be authenticated to ensure that they are who they say they are. In addition to receiving such documentary evidence to assist in this, Disclosure Scotland carry out extensive authentication exercises including searching various databases such as those operated by the Passport Agency and DVLA.
Basic Disclosures
For Basic Disclosure applications, including those applied for via the Basic Disclosure Online (BDO) facility, which are NOT to be returned to the applicants home address AND NOT paid by personal credit/debit card, then we require COPIES* of two documents, one of which will be a utility bill (or other document which confirms the applicant's home address) and one of either a Passport, Driving Licence or Birth Certificate.
* It is important to note that we do not require sight of originals of the above documents - for this reason, please ensure that you only send copies of these to Disclosure Scotland.
Standard and Enhanced Disclosures
With regard to applications for Standard and Enhanced Disclosures, the onus on authentication is placed upon the Countersignatory (CSG) within the Registered Body. The CSG will advise you what supporting documentary evidence he or she requires. This may take the form of producing originals or copies of documents. Such documents should not be submitted to Disclosure Scotland unless you are specifically requested by Disclosure Scotland to do so. Again, Disclosure Scotland will not require original documents to be submitted.
Other than the above requirements in respect of all levels of Disclosure, applicants or CSG's should ensure that they have followed the requirements of Part D of the application form in that they have provided Disclosure Scotland with the appropriate fee for processing applications.
