What is an Umbrella Body?
An Umbrella Body is an organisation which seeks criminal record checks on behalf of other people or organisations.
You may be considered an Umbrella Body if you are seeking to have checks carried out, not only for your own employees, workers, volunteers, etc, but also for other organisations or individuals with whom you have an existing relationship or with which you have no such relationship, but with which you subsequently develop a relationship. As an Umbrella Body, you can register with Disclosure Scotland in the same way as any other Registered Body and be expected to comply with the Code of Practice, etc.
