Is more than one Disclosure required?
If a person is involved in a number of different areas that require different checks, possibly as an employee and/or a volunteer, it is possible that more than one Disclosure is required. However, the applicant retains their right to share the information contained within the Disclosure with any person. For example, a recently checked teacher who wishes to become a scout leader may be able to use his/her Disclosure for his/her voluntary role providing the voluntary body finds this acceptable (please also see FAQ in respect of “portability”).
It should be noted, however, that the level of Disclosure issued for one post or position may not be appropriate for another. With the introduction of the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003, for example, there is a requirement for applicants for childcare positions to be checked against the list of adults Disqualified from Working with Children (DWCL). If they had not been checked against this list for the first or initial position and they were applying for a further position which involved childcare then they could not use the initial disclosure check for the subsequent position.
